MY heart goes out to the families of the two policewomen shot in Manchester.

President of the Association of Chief Police Officers, Sir Hugh Orde, said capital punishment would not solve the issue.

We have seen on TV and read the newspapers about killings this year.

I have never seen so many young, innocent children die, and even some parents who have killed their own children.

This Sunday between 11am & 4pm with FREE admission at the Moat House Hotel Festival Park we will be exhibiting with some special show offers, the weather forecast isn't good but our deals are

I am wondering when this Government is going to do something about this very important issue.

We don't want your talking, we want action now.

There should be a change in the law. We cannot keep hearing about young, innocent children and people getting killed.

The crime rate for killings has gone up this year. This is what I say to the Government: "Get your finger out and change the law."

My opinion is, anyone who kills should be put into jail for life and made to suffer.

“If you take a life, then yes, I totally agree with life imprisonment without parole. But, if you are going to cage a person for life, it goes without saying that you need to help then to live that life to a standard. Its all to easy to 'let the b****ards rot' but, let's face it what's that going to do. They are there for help and our protection, UK law is not based on punishment, which some think and would like to see, and as civil people, its not a route we need to go down.”

“I would expect someone with enough interest in politics to become a councillor to know life does indeed mean life.

Even when released lifers remain on permanent licence. They are effectively owned by the state. They can be incarcerated again at any moment, for even the suspicion of the most trivial misdemeanour. Every aspect of their life is open to scrutiny and subject to approval, where they live and work, what relationships they enter, where they holiday etc.

D V Palmer's suggestion that they rot in jail may appeal to many, but such prisoners are few and for good reason. Philosophical arguments about crime and punishment aside, someone has to guard prisoners - would you want your husband, wife, son or daughter having to look after convicted killers with no hope of release?”
