NATURE lovers are invited to enjoy a rare glance at a protected species during an event at a Staffordshire beauty spot.

A licensed ranger will be leading the evening's exploration of newts at the Apedale Community Country Park on Tuesday, July 7.

Visitors will be shown where the newts live, will have the chance to learn about their behaviour and see how they are managed at the site.

People should take a torch and meet at the Newcastle Countryside Office, off Loomer Road, Chesterton, at 9.30pm.

Places for the event, which costs £2 for adults and is free for children, must be booked by calling 01782 564885.
