LAST Friday a group of pensioners were waiting for the 10.15 bus in Abbey Lane, Bucknall, when one had a fit. He was coming out of it when the bus came. Two pensioners struggling with him phoned for help. Nobody came.

Is this a modern way how to look after the elderly?

“OK how about this one, about a year ago I was sitting in a doctors waiting room. Just myself and a woman who seemed to be in her mid 70s. A man came in looking in his late 50s came in with a walking stick. He fell rather badly to the floor hitting his head. As I, mid 40s, went to the mans aid and the lady at the desk made her way into the room to also help the guy who had now got a nasty looking lump on his head, the woman in her 70s who was nearer the man then myself sat there and remarked 'You need to take more water with that.' Unthoughtful remark don't you think.”
