Joy Garner, is Labour's candidate in November's election to become Police and Crime Commissioner, said:

Figures from the Home Office show a large drop in the police service strength in Staffordshire since the Government took office in 2010, leaving the force in danger of having the lowest number of warranted officers since it was established in 1968.

In addition, the nature of crime has greatly changed over the past four decades, often becoming far more complex.

Staffordshire people want to see police on their streets, but these figures show that 213 officers have already been lost, with more cuts to come.

We risk losing some of our most skilled and experienced crime-fighters.

From speaking with many local officers, I know their morale has reached an all-time low.

Our Chief Constable has been placed in an impossible position. He is doing everything he can to deliver effective policing, but the Government is pulling the rug out from beneath his feet.

I agree with him that there are few efficiency savings left to be found, and after the G4S scandal, few people can take seriously the idea that many police functions can be privatised.

If I become Staffordshire's Police and Crime Commissioner I will do everything I can to oppose these cuts.

They take too many risks with the fight against crime.

No amount of gimmicks can replace the bobby on the beat.

Under the previous Government, crime fell by 30 per cent in Staffordshire. The danger is it may now start to rise.

“This is the worst Labour Council I have ever seen.
The same old faces that were once behind bars of our local nick.
Kept in place by fiddling the outcome Labour members REALLY wanted.
Even fiddled Labour booted her out.
500 local members have now walked out and still they don't quite get the message.
You have to ask yourself: "Are they thick?"”

“Redtone, all statements I have made I researched not speculated, and can be proved.
I spent a long time doing it, even facing the audit committee with 2 others and challenging them, which the 151 officer at the time ran out crying, and would not return.
Have you researched or just reverted to childish insults like others.
As this council have very little opposition I along with others will keep challenging them to account for their actions, and no amount of school yard name calling will stop us.
You won't find me backside licking this so called council laughable promise of "putting the people first" while stitching them up with more tax's and less services.”
