Kidsgrove family business Window Blinds 2 U is growing by word of mouth

A small family business is opening a new Kidsgrove store supplying a high-quality window-blind service they believe offers service that's second-to-none.

And owner Andy Taylor of Window Blinds 2 U says 80 per cent of their new business comes from personal recommendations from satisfied customers.

The new shop is at 31-25 Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove.

The aim is to sell both the window blinds as they have in the past, but also seasonal stock like garden furniture, says Andy, high quality hardwood dining sets, swings and  benches. The shop also has a display of 'Shabby Chic' hand painted furniture.

 "It's a family business run by myself and my wife, Deborah," he said. "When we started in 2008 I was working from home, but the business has been growing steadily year on year."

Window Blinds 2 U moved first into industrial premises and now into a retail shop, and it is still aiming to grow and take on more staff.

Andy has a wealth of experience having been involved with the furnishing industry for over 25 years, including design; production; international sales and factory management.

Some trade comes through the slick website, which offers customers the chance to 'bring the shop to your home'.

Customers can choose to have a salesperson visit so they can select their own blinds from their own home.

There's a wide range of designs of blinds, from roller and venetian blinds to woodweave and pleated blinds, and you can also get blinds fitted to a particular shaped window or conservatory.

Local advertising is also positive for the firm, but Andy says the most important factor is from previous customers.

"More than 80 per cent of our business comes from repeat business, recommendations from family and friends who have used our firm and are pleased. It's the best kind of advertising you could have!"
