HOW TICKLED: Celebrity puppets are proving a hit at a museum.

Interactive exhibition Carry On Punch at Newcastle Museum And Art Gallery enables visitors to go backstage with Punch and Judy.

And they can discover how Mr Punch transformed himself from an Italian immigrant into England's national puppet over the course of more than three centuries of comic anarchy.

Also on show are puppets including TV chef Gordon Ramsay, right, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, comedian Ken Dodd and model Jordan.

Tina Ball, Newcastle Borough Council community arts development officer, said: "It's a great fun outing for all the family – especially the children."

The exhibition closes on March 7. Pictured is museum attendant Bev Jennings with the Ken Dodd puppet.
