A CALLOUS sex predator who blighted the childhood of two schoolgirls deserved every day of his potentially lifelong jail term, top judges have ruled.

Ronald Andrew Maxted, of Palmer Road, Sandbach, aged 46, was imprisoned indefinitely "for public protection" at Chester Crown Court last September after he was convicted of 10 counts of rape against one girl, and three of indecent assault against the other.

Maxted will not be freed until he can convince the Parole Board he is no longer a danger to society.

Maxted's lawyers argued in the Appeal Court that his sentence was unjustified and he had wrongly been classified as a "dangerous" offender.

But judge Mr Justice Jack ruled the sentence was "right" and described Maxted's crimes as in "the most serious category of offending".
