ROBBER Dameon Tolley has been jailed for a total of 27 months after he targeted a vulnerable 16-year-old boy.

The 25-year-old robbed the teenager at 2.45pm on September 11 last year as he walked alone on a disused railway line in Berry Hill.

Prosecutor Robert Price told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday Tolley asked the youth for the time.

The victim took out his mobile phone and told him the time and carried on walking. But Tolley followed him, grabbed him and said: "Give me all your stuff."

The youth handed over his phone and £3.

Tolley then warned his young victim not to tell anyone before punching him to the face on at least six occasions. He then kicked him four or five times to the body when he was on the ground, said Mr Price.

The victim was left with pain and swelling to his face, lumps on his head, and a small cut to his left ear.

He is now scared to go out on his own.

While on bail for that offence Tolley burgled a house in Bentilee when the homeowner was at home.

Mr Price said Susan Jackson heard someone in her son's room at 5.30pm on November 19 when he was not expected home.

She opened the door and saw Tolley. He picked up some computer games and pushed past her. She fell against a door and banged her head.

Mrs Jackson ran after Tolley who went to his house. Tolley, of Calvary Crescent, Bentilee, pleaded guilty to robbery and burglary.

Jane Dagnall, mitigating, said Tolley, who has a six-year-old daughter, has brought shame on his family.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones sentenced Tolley to 18 months in jail for the robbery and nine months to run consecutively for the burglary.

Time on remand, 148 days, will be deducted from the term.

“Seems like a nice boy! Again, just taking what he wants without having to pay for it. As I keep saying, the answer is to be made to work and pay for their own goods. This is the only way such yobs will learn. Prison is just a nice little break for him. Did I read that he has a child? Good example he is. Us taxpayers footing the bill again. Never mind, work again tomorrow!”
