A CLAIMS management firm is transferring jobs from Stoke-on-Trent to Southampton.

Davies Group, which employs around 200 people at its base at Riverside Business Park in Stoke, said it is transferring "a small number" of roles.

One of the workers, who asked not to be named, told The Sentinel that around 17 jobs are being switched.

Group chief executive Charles Crawford said: "We are moving a small number of roles from our subsidence claims handling team in our Stoke-on-Trent operation to the south coast to be nearer our insurer clients and their policy holders.

"This move affects only a small number of staff within an overall office with around 200 people employed, and is solely within this department.

"As unavoidable as this is, every effort is being made to find alternative roles for as many as possible within our existing operation as we appreciate that it is unlikely that staff will wish to make the move to the south coast, but that option exists.

"We have no plans to move any other roles, and through our operation at Riverside Business Park, we remain committed to employing as many people as we can in Stoke-on-Trent, where we have been based since the company was founded well over a decade ago."
