A 16-YEAR-OLD from Stoke-on-Trent has passed his Royal Navy basic training.

Trainee Engineering Technician Jack Lowe arrived at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, in December to undergo nine weeks of intensive training. He passed out on Friday.

Jack, a former pupil of Moorside High School, in Werrington, said: "It has been a challenging but very fulfilling nine weeks."

Jack will now transfer to HMS Sultan, in Hampshire, where he will be trained in mechanical engineering.
