JOIN THE DEBATE: How can Hanley's nightlife be improved?
STOKE-ON-TRENT City Council is this morning holding a meeting to discuss ways of improving Hanley's nightlife.
It comes after Stoke-on-Trent's Chief Superintendent Bernie O'Reilly called for reduced nightclub opening hours to combat a rise in violent crime in the city centre last July.
He claimed 'cafe culture' has not materialised and that keeping premises open until 4am was encouraging extensive drinking.
In recent days Hanley's Cultural Quarter has also been criticised by business owners for failing to offer enough to attract visitors.
