AN inquest into the death of a 44-year-old man who died just three months after being shot with a taser gun has been opened.

Deputy Coroner for North Staffordshire, Anthony Curzon, formally opened and adjourned the hearing for Martin Baskeyfield, of Scotia Road, Tunstall , this morning.

Mr Baskeyfield died on January 14 at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

It is believed he died from natural causes, but the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has now launched an investigation into Mr Baskeyfield's death following a complaint from family members.
