MEMBERS of the Indian community have raised more than £250 for a hospice.

Katharine House Hospice has received £251 from the Kerala Association Stafford.

The community organisation raised the money with an Indian dance, dinner and musical night to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

It took place at Littleworth Community Centre in December. Guests were treated to a Indian feast followed by music and dancing by children from KAS Dance School.

Children also donated toys for the hospice shops.

Katharine House fund-raiser Amy Johnson said: "We are extremely grateful for this generous donation. The association represents a very friendly and caring community and we were touched that they chose to support us on this very special occasion."

Katharine House Hospice provides free care and support for adults and their families coping with a progressive illness across mid-Staffordshire.

It relies upon the generosity of the local community to help generate 75 per cent of funds needed to run its range of vital services.
