STRIKER Lee Hughes has completed his move to Port Vale.

The 36-year-old has signed until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.

The striker, who joins the Valiants after leaving Notts County, will go straight into the squad for Saturday's clash at Gillingham.

He becomes Micky Adams' third signing in January, following Chris Birchall and Darren Purse into Vale Park.

"I am very excited to join Port Vale," he said.

"It is a fantastic club steeped in football history and it has a real chance to reclaim former glories under new ownership.

"I am really looking forward to working with Micky Adams, who I have long respected. The team is having a tremendous season and so I shall do my utmost to score goals and help the team in its promotion push."

Adams added: "Lee has scored goals at all levels and I think it is a real coup that we have managed to sign him.

"The squad have done fantastically well already this season and Lee's signing will give us even more strength in depth and experience, as well as another option in the final third."

“This is a difficult moral dilema, one which I hope MA has considered. Of all the signings we could have made this would not have been my No1. But we have a manager in place who is paid to make these kind of decisions, and if he thinks it's a good move then that's OK by me. I just hope when he scores he dosn't do the stupid "Andy Pandy" dance behind the goal, it just looks pathetic.”

“I agree worker, this is a disgraceful signing. This monster killed people he should have never played professional football again. I'm shocked that the Burslem club can condone what he has done by paying him a wage”

“He should prove his worth,a proven goal scorer.Might be getting on a bit but with any player, it's being in the right place at the right time. He will certainly get the opportunities to score goals. Could be the final piece to the jigsaw. It will be our attacking play that hopefully takes us up.”
