House’s history was a mystery to new owners
THE Bibi family, who now own Clarice’s former house knew little of its history when they moved in from their previous home in May Avenue nine years ago.
The first Zarda Bibi, aged 51, knew about the house’s famous past was around two years ago when son Arshad, a pupil at Brownhills High School, returned home one night after being told about the house by teachers.
The 14-year-old said of the collectors’ club’s initial approach: “People were coming to the house and taking pictures and I asked what was happening.
“They took a few pictures of me and my sister outside and then they came back and asked if they could put a plaque up.”
Sister Anzeelia, aged 19, who is a student at Burslem College, was presented with a book on Clarice Cliff by the collectors’ club as a token of its appreciation in having the plaque fitted.
