PET owners can now book summer holidays for their animals as well, with the opening of a pet hotel.

Paul and Mechaela Colley have launched the Weston Coyney Pet Lodge in their back garden in Parkhead Crescent, Weston Coyney.

The idea is to give owners peace of mind with the knowledge their animals are being professionally cared for while they are on holiday.

The Colleys have converted their garage into a haven for small animals and have already received bookings for the holiday season.

They invested £5,000 in the venture after struggling to find temporary accommodation for their own menagerie of 30 birds, two rabbits, two dogs, five guinea pigs and a pondful of fish during trips away.

Mechaela, aged 44, said: "It's very exciting to finally be open for business, we're looking forward to our first guests."
