Hospital chief remains vacant because candidates 'not suitable'
THE chief executive position at the trust which runs Stafford hospital is vacant because no suitable candidates applied for the job.
Interviews for the post were held on Monday but staff at the struggling Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust have since been told they were not successful.
Martin Yeates stepped down from the role in early March, days before the Healthcare Commission published its damning report which revealed between 400 and 1,200 more people died than would have been expected at the trust over a three-year period.
Mr Yeates was then suspended on full pay before officially tendering his resignation in May. Eric Morton will continue as interim chief executive.

“THE SCANDAL CONTINUES
It is about time the West Midlands Regional Health Authority took this sad pathetic trust by the scruff of its shabby neck and shook it up once and for all
The trust has gone through so many changes - some where existing experienced staff were not allowed to be involved in the newer set up - that no one now knows what the hell is going on
The result is that all the faeces floated to the top of the management structure (not libelous )
Meaning we still have an 'organisation' bereft of even moderate leadership or organisation
It is little wonder therefore that a skilled professional would even consider coming to Stafford to work while the existing structures are in place
Footnote: ( advised professional opinion )
If you have any member of your family needing urgent medical treatment for a heart attack in the night demand to be taken to Wolverhampton New Cross. If they have a serious injury that needs attention seriously consider telling the ambulance driver to take you to Burton Hospital ( they may well even decide to take you there anyway )”
