Horse racing: Free tickets if you share big race's birthday
UTTOXETER Racecourse is looking for people whose birth coincides with the first running of the John Smith's Midlands Grand National – 40 years ago.
Those born on May 3, 1969 – the same date as the first Midlands Grand National – have an extra reason to celebrate after the racecourse announced free admission for those who share the showpiece event's birth.
Uttoxeter Racecourse's General Manager David McDonald, pictured, said: "We'd love to find some people who came into the world that day."
Those born on May 3, 1969 are asked to contact Uttoxeter Racecourse on 01889 562561 or e-mail info@uttoxeter-racecourse.co.uk. Upon providing proof of their birthday, they will receive an admission badge for John Smith's Midlands Grand National day on Saturday, March 14.
This year's first race is scheduled for 2.05pm, while the Midlands National is set for 3.45pm. Entrance gates will be open from 11am.
Admission prices are £27 (Premier Enclosure), £22 (Grandstand & Paddock) and £12 (Centre Course Family Enclosure). Children under-16 gain free entry when accompanied by an adult. Senior citizens enjoy a £3 discount in Premier, Grandstand and Paddock.
