POLICE have been training people who work with children and families to spot signs of sexual abuse.

Cheshire Police worked with child sexual abuse prevention campaign Stop it Now! England, to organise the specialist training day for multi-agency workers.

The training day, which took place this week at the force headquarters, was aimed at anyone who works with families – who are best placed to protect children from abuse – and marks the start of renewed prevention efforts in the county.

Detective Chief Inspector Giles Orton said: "Children have the right to live their lives without living in fear of being abused. Stop it Now! England, agreed to deliver specialist training that enhanced and built on the knowledge of those people who have a duty of care to children across Cheshire.

"It brought people together to listen to the issues and look at the current research and best practice from around the world."
