A FAMILY fun day is taking place this weekend to raise funds for a two-year-old youngster who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Little Ruby Owen, from Kidsgrove, has already undergone an operation to remove most of the tumour. But if chemotherapy doesn't work, her family may be forced to find £250,000 to take her abroad for pioneering treatment, as reported in yesterday's Sentinel.

Now friends and well-wishers are helping to raise the money and have organised the event this Sunday at Kidsgrove Cricket Club.

It will include face painting, a barbecue, stocks, ice cream, a bouncy castle, and a raffle.

The raffle prizes have been donated and include an MP3 player, a year's free building and contents insurance, and tickets for Port Vale.

People can go along to the fun day at the cricket club, off Clough Hall Road, Kidsgrove, from 2pm onwards.
