A CAMPAIGN to make defibrillators available in all Staffordshire's schools has been taken to Parliament.

Duncan Parsonage and Matt Heward, who are Staffordshire community response managers for West Midlands Ambulance Service, were invited to an event at the House of Commons to discuss the issue.

They are backing a campaign by the charity SADS to get the specialist equipment installed in schools in case pupils or teachers suffer heart failure.

An estimated 270 cardiac arrests occur in schools across the UK each year.

Mr Parsonage said: "We strongly believe that, by having defibrillators installed in public places, such as schools and business premises, and having people trained in their use and basic first aid techniques, really can help to save lives."
