MORE interviews are taking place this week as staff are recruited to work at a new NHS walk-in centre.

Private company Badger Harmoni Health Care will run the £1.3 million medical walk-in centre, in Stafford Street, Hanley.

It will become the first clinic in Stoke-on-Trent where people can drop in to see a nurse or GP without an appointment.

NHS Stoke-on-Trent hopes it will stop some patients turning up at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire's accident unit.

Staff, including a £45,000-a-year practice manager and practice administrators, are now being recruited.

The centre is due to open on New Year's Eve and will operate from 8am to 8pm every day.
