NIGHT WALKING: An outdoor ropes course is offering visitors the chance to scale the heights after dark.

Aerial Extreme, in Trentham, will open its course for the first ever time at night on Saturday for a Halloween special.

The outdoor adventure ropes course runs through the woods in Trentham Gardens and offers rope bridges, podium jumps, speedy zip lines and cargo nets.

On Saturday, 20 people will be able to undertake the challenge in the dark.

The event is open to over 18s only due to the limited light.

Site manager Alex Dick said: "This is what's so fantastic about Aerial Extreme – we can put on exciting events like this safe in the knowledge that our customers remain clipped on the whole way around the course."

Participants will be greeted by Aerial Extreme instructors sporting scary costumes, briefed and led to the course lit by candlelit pumpkins.

The course's sound system will also be playing horror music to add to the atmosphere.

Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis and cost £20 each, and the fun will start at 7pm.

TERRIFYING TOURS: Ghost tours are taking place at a tourist attraction in the run up to Halloween.

The first spooky tour kicks off tomorrow and includes the Ancient High House, in Stafford. The 16th Century and its ghoulish goings on have been featured in popular TV programmes 'Most Haunted' and 'Ghost Town.'

The building is the largest Elizabethan timber framed town house in the country.

Now people will be able to book themselves on to a guided tour which will include haunted buildings, local ghosts and macabre facts. The tours are going to be available throughout the year.

Stafford Borough Council member Mike Smith, who has responsibility for leisure, said: "What better way to get a feel of the scary goings on in Stafford than going on a ghost tour only a few days before the spookiest day of the year."

The tours get underway tomorrow and Thursday with tours at 6.30pm, 7.15pm and 8pm each day.

The ghost walks will cost £5 per person and anyone wanting to take part should book at the High House in the town centre or ring 01785 619131.

SPOOKY SPIDERS: Spooky spiders and Halloween hats will be made by youngsters attending craft sessions with a ghoulish theme.

The Potteries Shopping Centre, in Hanley, is staging Halloween activities during half term next week.

Craft sessions take place tomorrow from 11.30am to 1.30pm and 2pm to 4pm.

Children can also collect spooky stickers from Poundland, Barratts, GAP and Hawkin's Bazaar for the chance to win a giant spider puppet.

Sandrine Rutter, marketing manager at the shopping centre, said: "Half-term is turning spooky this Halloween with lots of free events to keep the kids happy and great giveaways and prizes to be won."
