IT'S billed as a surprising show in a surprising place.

In what promises to be a lively and entertaining performance, legendary guitarist Gordon Giltrap will be playing at Barlaston Village Hall tonight.

Gordon secured his first record deal at the age of 18 and has recorded more than 25 albums. The list of famous names with which he has worked include Mike Oldfield, Brian May, Midge Ure and Cliff Richard.

Audiences can expect a varied programme – Gordon uses five or six different guitars to play a mixture of rock, blues, folk and classical styles.

His appearance is courtesy of Live & Local, a network of voluntary organisations across the West and East Midlands and parts of South East England, that aims to secure professional shows for village halls, schools and community centres.

An Evening With Gordon Giltrap is at Barlaston Village Hall tonight at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £8 from Tony Dodd on 01782 373228 or Barlaston Post Office.
