MORE than £3,000 was raised from a charity golf day and auction for people at risk of homelessness or domestic violence.

The event was organised by Newcastle-based independent financial advisers ASC Financial Management to raise money for Arch North Staffordshire.

More than 50 golfers from local businesses took part at the Izaak Walton Golf Club near Stone.

The event, organised partly to celebrate ASC's 10th birthday, raised £3,168.

ASC and Arch are hoping it will become an annual event.

Corporate and community fund-raiser Ray Elks said: "The cash will be spent on helping to rehouse people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or those exposed to domestic violence.

"Last year we helped and supported more than 3,000 families and individuals at risk in North Staffordshire."

ASC director Tony Castrey said: "It was a great day and although I spent the majority of my time hacking away in the bushes we're hoping this will become an annual event."
