BETRAYAL Within The Ranks headline The Sugarmill, in Hanley, from 7pm tonight.

Support comes from Abyss, Below The Depths and Brave Young Blood. Tickets are £4.55, from Music Mania.

Elsewhere, Breaking Satellites headline The Underground from 7pm. Tickets are £4.55.

Over at The Full Moon, in Newcastle, there will be an acoustic showcase tonight. The Robin Pierce Band, Giro Junkie and Mobberley will be joined by special guests from 8pm. Tickets cost £3 on the door or are available from the bands.

At The Old Brown Jug, in Newcastle, resident DJs The Reception bring the best in dance, funk and disco from 9pm until 2am.

If you can't wait until Newcastle Jazz and Blues Festival later in the year, there will be a preview of what to expect at The Full Moon on Saturday.

Reefy Blunt and the Biftas will be joined by Zoot Suit Blues from 8pm. There will be a DJ until after 2am. It's free entry before 10pm and £2 after.

Top tribute act Roger Dean celebrates the life and music of Johnny Cash at the Victoria Hall, in Hanley, on Saturday.

Nottingham rock and rollers The Breakdowns play at The Rigger, in Newcastle, from 7pm. Tickets cost £3.

The Old Brown Jug hosts the country's best tribute to The Clash, also on Saturday. Support comes from DJ Sweet Jayne until 2am.

And on Sunday, the pub winds down with the sounds of trad jazz courtesy of the Coffin Dodgers. Admission is free from noon and music will be performed from 1pm-3pm. There will be hot food plus an interval raffle.

And the entertainment continues into Sunday night with top quality rock and blues group, The Bill Daison Band.

Admission is free all night with music from 9.30pm.

Elsewhere hip hop artist Hydra Da Hero plays at The Sugarmill, in Hanley, from 7.30pm. He's joined by Welsh MCs Astroid Boys. Call Music Mania on 01782 206000 for tickets, which cost from £8.50.

Singer-songwriter Greg Murray performs a gig at The Old Brown Jug on Wednesday. Admission is free all night with music from 9pm until midnight.

On Thursday melodic hardcore band Heart In Hand play at The Underground, in Hanley, from 7pm.

On Friday, February 17, Fred Zeppelin will be returning to North Staffordshire for the first time in three years.

Voted one of the top 10 best live bands by readers of Kerrang! magazine, the tribute group will be at Baddeley Green Working Men's Club from 8.30pm.
