LOCAL threesome Silent Call are an indie rock band who will be headlining The Sugarmill tonight. Their debut EP Telling Tales is currently available for digital download. Meanwhile, Japanese Voyeurs, who played a prestigious slot at last year's Download Festival, headline The Box in Crewe tonight. The London based five-piece are a heady mixture of grunge and rock and have been hotly tipped as ones to watch in 2010. Support acts include Troops Of Mafeking, Echo Of Ages and Angel Range. The Full Moon in Newcastle holds it's Tremolo Studios Showcase from 7pm. Headline band The Control have enjoyed much acclaim from the press including BBC 6 music. Entrance is £2.50 and DJ SweetJayne follows until 2am.

New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack are cult underground rockers who make the most authentic and original rock'n'roll you could hope for. The band, who have secured an enormous international following, virtually on word of mouth alone, are playing The Rigger with support from The Burial Season from 8pm. Entrance is free.

Legendary three-chord maestros, Status Quo, have been rockin' all over the world for 35 years, and are playing their re-scheduled sold out show at The Victoria Hall on Sunday. With more Top Of The Pops appearances than any other band, Status Quo have spent in excess of 417 weeks in the British singles charts. Doors open around 7pm.

Exit Ten are a five-piece rock/metal band from Reading, who are headlining The Underground on Tuesday. Their Andy Sneap produced mini-album This World, They'll Drown was released in 2006, and the follow-up debut full-length album Remember The Day, was released in June 2008 to wide critical acclaim. The band are now concentrating on their third release and are deep into the writing process and touring new songs. Support comes from The Casino Brawl and Dividing The Line, doors open at 7:30pm and tickets are £7.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

Finally, Friday sees The Sugarmill welcoming back The Setup, a brilliant four-piece who have made an impact on the scene with their roots in Staffordshire. Drawing influence from bands such as Muse, Erasure and Elbow, the trio began writing more melodic and anthemic music using synths alongside the guitar based music they were used to. Expect a brilliant live show with guests, Wilder and Stellar Satellite from 7pm. Tickets are £4.50 from Music Mania in Hanley.
