TONIGHT sees The Sugarmill welcome back The Setup, a brilliant four piece who have made an impact on the scene with their roots in Staffordshire. Drawing influence from bands such as Muse, Erasure and Elbow, the trio began writing more melodic and anthemic music using keyboards and synths alongside the guitar-based music were used to. Expect a brilliant live show with guests, Wilder and Stellar Satellite from 7pm. Tickets are £4.50 from Music Mania, in Hanley, on 01782 206000.

Alternatively, The Beat Route in Congleton hosts a free gig tonight from 8pm. Headline band Tequila Lips are joined by Swim Into Scarlett.

The Box in Crewe plays host to Spectrum 7 from 8pm. In their time together the Surrey quintet have written a wealthy back catalogue of material and shared stages with the likes of Enter Shikari and Cage The Elephant, as well as embarking on several of their own UK tours. Support comes from The Academics, Corporation One and The Only Alternatives. Admission is £5.

On Saturday at The Winking Frog in Hanley you can catch Hednesford indie band The Vouch with support from Sevencaves and Marquis Drive. Music starts around 8.30pm and entrance is £4.

Meanwhile The Beat Route in Congleton boasts The Control, an indie/post punk band who have been introduced by 6 music's Tom Robinson and received rave reviews from local press. The band is joined by the equally impressive band The Fortunas. Music starts at 8pm and entrance is £2. Call 07793 738389.

The Addition headline The Underground in Hanley from 7pm. Support comes from The Riots, Acid Sunshine and Everything On Red. Tickets from Music Mania.

Detroit Social Club, the most retro-sounding band in the UK Indie charts, is headlining The Sugarmill on Monday from 7pm. Their gospel influenced folkish rock 'n' roll will transport you to a crowded, sun-soaked festival field in the 1970s. Tickets are available from Music Mania in Hanley for £5.50.

The Sunshine Underground play their sold out gigat The Sugarmill from 7.30pm on Wednesday. Described by themselves as 'a party band' the Leeds groupis a mix of indie and dance music. With a particular dislike of playing big venues, they prefer small late night gigs, encouraging a house party atmosphere. Support comes from Cosmo Jarvis and The Sport and doors open at 7.30pm.

Indie boys Maybe This Friday play The Underground, in Hanley, on Friday, February 12 from 7.30pm. Tickets from Music Mania.
