PUNK/GRUNGE threesome The Smears play The Alsager Arms in Alsager tonight as part of their Hell Hath No Fury Tour.

The ladies have built quite a reputation through Drowned In Sound, Sonic Dirt Records and BBC Radio Nottingham. Music starts around 7pm and tickets are £4.50 from 01782 206 000.

Elsewhere, local Indie threesome, The Rivalry, play the Underground in Hanley, pictured below. The boys, who draw their inspiration from the likes of The Jam, The Beatles and Kasabian, are ones to watch over 2010. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are £4.50 from Music Mania.

Alternatively, Molotov Revival plays The Full Moon with support from Meme and Karl Bailey. Entrance is £2.50 from 8pm, and DJ Sweet Jayne plays until 2am.

For a chance to see some upcoming musicians playing an intimate venue, be sure to check out local indie heroes The Sport headline The Beat Route in West Street, Congleton, with support from Janice Graham from 8pm. Entrance is £2 on the door.

On Sunday Breathe Carolina bring their tour of the UK, in aid of the Artery Foundation, to Hanley's Sugarmill.

You might recognise their tune In The Dressing Room from the iPhone's hit application Tap Tap Revenge, and their latest single Hello Fascination is available now for digital download. Missing Brookside? Well worry not, the cult soap lives on in name when Brookside play at The Alsager Arms on Monday from 7pm. Tickets are £4.50 from Music Mania on 01782 206000.

Alternatively catch Texan band Midlake at The Sugarmill from 7.30pm.

The band was originally influenced by jazz and funk, but after a few band member changes, they began turning their hand to music similar to that of early Radiohead and Granddaddy. Support comes from Sarah Jaffe, doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £12.50 from The Sugarmill on 01159 454 593.

On Tuesday Rumour Has It and Loungetree play The Winking Frog in Hanley from 8pm. Entrance is £4 on the door.

Japanese Voyeurs, who played a prestigious slot at last year's Download Festival, headline The Sugarmill on Thursday.

The London based five-piece are a heady mixture of Grunge and Rock. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 from The Sugarmill box office on 01559 454 593.
