Gardens leads D-Day tribute
OPERATION Trentham Gardens will commemorate the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Surviving veterans not making the trek to Normandy this year are invited to remember the fallen heroes of the Second World War.
More than 200 re-enactment enthusiasts will help bring the period to life during a weekend of activities. There will also be military vehicles on show, armour, living history groups and dioramas.
A spokesman for the event said: "We will have veterans and decorated heroes from more recent conflicts.
"We will be involving the local community with schools, churches, scout groups, Royal British Legion, 3rd Battalion (Staffords) West Mercian Regiment, and the National Memorial Arboretum."
Tickets for the event, on June 6 and 7, are £10 for adults on the day, £7 for children and £7 for veterans.
D-Day was launched on June 6, 1944. It involved more than three million service personnel and its objective was victory in Europe.

“I understand Russ's comments and feelings about Trentham gardens.
However what he doesn't know about this event is that Trentham gardens are working inconjunctiojn with external organisers who are setting up the event (not Trentham gardens) and that well over three quarters of the money made at this event is going to war veteran charities to help them keep those charities going as they get very little help from elsewhere. So its not Trentham gardens making money!! Also if he had read the posters or leaflets that are around the area he would find that there are also reduced rates for example early bookings etc.”

“Yet another example of Trentham Gardens making money -
I can understand charging people but find the idea that Veterans are to be charged £7 to get in is disgusting.
Bosses of Trentham if it weren't for these guys you wouldnt be where you are now hang your heads in shame!!!”
