Gangs smash up town pub
DRINKERS went on the rampage at a town centre pub and caused damage estimated at thousands of pounds.
The Imperial, in Crewe, was forced to close early on Christmas Day after being overrun by gangs of drunken customers. The pub's toilets were ripped off the walls, furniture was smashed, and glasses and bottles broken at the Edleston Road venue.
Landlord Steve Sharkey said the troublemakers were not regulars at the pub, which is known as The Imp. It was forced to close an hour early at 11pm.
Mr Sharkey said: "Nobody was injured, but it's not what you'd expect on Christmas Day."
