SHOPPERS will be able to park for free during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations after a council announced it will suspend charges.

Cheshire East Council will waive fees on all its car parks across Crewe, Alsager Sandbach and Nantwich.

Drivers will be able to leave their vehicles for free from 8am on Monday, June 4 until 8am on Wednesday, June 6.

Councillor Rod Menlove, cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: "Cheshire East Council has taken this decision to ensure that party-goers can concentrate on enjoying themselves for the whole celebration, rather than worrying about if their ticket has expired. We want people to enjoy themselves as much as possible during this once-in-a-lifetime experience."
