FAMILIES living near a tourist attraction can visit for free again this year.

The National Trust is running a concession scheme for Biddulph residents to go to Biddulph Grange for the fifth successive year.

The pass, which has a £5 administration charge, is available to people who pay council tax to Biddulph Town Council and valid between June and October.

Property manager Paul Baker said: "In addition to the established pass people are familiar with there will be a new season ticket for local residents giving unrestricted access to the garden."

Season ticket holders can also have a 10 per cent discount on shop purchases, subject to conditions.

Anyone who has applied for a pass or season ticket in previous years will be sent a renewal notice.

First-time applicants must show proof they live in one of the four Biddulph wards, such as a council tax or utility bill.

Application forms are available from Biddulph Town Hall, Biddulph Library, or the Biddulph Resource and Information Centre, in St John's Road. They must be submitted by Friday, April 30.

The garden is open from Wednesdays to Sundays in March and daily from April to October.
