Founder aims to bring community together at cafe
FOLLOWING 12 months of research, planning and hard graft, Derrick Wallace is now preparing for the official launch of his voluntary organisation Other Cultures In Shelton (OCIS).
He has transformed the former Hawksmore Pub, in Regent Road, Hanley, into a community cafe and hopes the venue will become a place where members of the community can get together to socialise and relax, or stage public or group meetings.

Derrick Wallace is the founder of the OCIS cafe.
The cafe will serve up drinks and snacks, but first and foremost, Derrick hopes the venue will help draw together residents of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.
He has worked with the BES to get the project off the ground and will officially launch the cafe on March 1, when the Bes Buddies group will meet.
