Football: Sentinel football man receives FA medal for 50 years' service
STAFFORDSHIRE FA chief executive Brian Adshead attended a Sentinel football competitions meeting on Monday to present Alan Vickers with his 50-year long-service medal.
As well as the medal from the FA, Vickers was also presented with a long service certificate from the Staffs FA and a letter of appreciation from Barry Bright, leader of the FA Council. Adshead said: "To dedicate 50 years to the game as a player and administrator, as Alan has done, is a wonderful achievement and worthy of our recognition.

"In Alan's case we are delighted he has dedicated this time to the game in Staffordshire as a player, a committee member and now as chairman of the Sentinel Football Competitions. It has been a pleasure knowing and working with Alan since I began at the FA some 17 years ago, and it was a privilege to be able to present him with these awards in front of his colleagues at the Sentinel Football Competitions meeting."
HONOUR: Alan Vickers, above right, receives his award from the chairman of Staffs FA Brian Adshead.
