DAVE Porter is looking forward to putting in the hard work on the training ground after being named as the new Eccleshall manager.

The former Willenhall Town boss replaces Kieron Hammat, who has switched to become Dave Langston's number two at Rocester due to work commitments.

The 47-year-old, from Weston Coyney, arrives as part of a three-strong management team with Kevin Reeves and Nick Cipolla.

He said: "We want to take what Kieron had developed and take the club that extra step forward.

"This is not a one-man operation. It is the experience we bring as a team and the things you do on the training ground that will help the club progress. We want to be at a higher level."

Eccleshall finished seventh in the North West Counties League Division One last season.

Former Port Vale trainee Porter started his coaching career at Kidsgrove Athletic and was manager at Cradley Town before assisting Simon Line at Market Drayton Town.

Reeves was at Kidsgrove last season, while goalkeeper coach Cipolla has also been at Grove as well as Leek Town, Nantwich Town, AFC Telford and the Stoke City academy.

Porter added: "I've taken time out since leaving Willenhall in 2010, but now I'm buzzing to be involved again."

LEEK CSOB are drawing up plans to boost attendances in what is likely to be their final season at Harrison Park.

Tony Strickson, who succeeded Stan Lockett as club secretary in April, wants Old Boys to beat their record attendance of 2,590 set when FC United of Manchester came to town in 2005.

He said: "In what is probably our last year at Harrison Park we are keen to raise the level of support.

"Firstly, we would like to break our record attendance, ideally when we play Port Vale in a pre-season friendly."

That match will be play on Tuesday, July 24 (kick-off 7.30pm) with tickets costing £5 for one adult and one child.

Old Boys are also selling season tickets for £20.

The initiative comes as new chairman John Powell prepares to oversee his first club annual meeting, from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, July 1.
