Football: Tarr treble lifts Old Boys
LEEK CSOB returned to the top of the table on the back of a hat-trick by Anthony Tarr.
The Old Boys' leading scorer reached double figures with goals on 41 and 54 minutes at AFC Blackpool and then sunk the seasiders with a last-minute header as they celebrated a 3-2 success.
Old Boys were twice behind and player-manager Brett Barlow praised the character of his side.
Barlow said: "The ground is right on the coast and conditions were atrocious.
"The ball was all over the place, so it was not a good game.
"Anthony Tarr played really well. He kept plugging away and scored with his right foot, left foot and head."
Blackpool had a player sent off midway through the first half for violent conduct, but the numbers were evened up when Old Boys' new assistant manager Wayne Brotherton was shown a second yellow card for handball.
ECCLESHALL were also in jubilant mood after scoring three goals for the first time in a league game this season to pip hosts Wigan Robin Park.
Wigan took an 11th-minute lead, but Martin Ridley flicked home the equaliser from a corner three minutes later.
Lassana Sidibe followed up a shot by Sam Lovatt to nose Eccleshall in front on 35 minutes, but Wigan levelled five minutes from the break.
Peter Shore restored Eccleshall's lead with a rocket shot seven minutes into the second half, and thereafter they stood firm to claim the points.
Manager Dave Dale said: "We looked right from the word go and everyone contributed to a good, solid performance.
"Paul Ridley is worthy of a special mention for the way he battled on after sustaining a cut above his eye that later required eight stitches, while Scott Wiggins came in as a late replacement in goal and did well."
NORTON UNITED lost goalscorer Paul Macari to a back injury in their 2-1 defeat at Atherton Collieries.
Macari gave Norton the lead four minutes into the second half, but Collieries seized on mistakes after 59 and 70 minutes to win the game.
Norton manager Dave Johnson said: "The team played well, but individual errors cost us the game.
"For 60 minutes we were awesome in the conditions.
"We had done everything right and contained them, but while we were disappointed with the result we feel we are making progress."
