NEWCASTLE Town youngster Tom Conlon has signed a two-year deal with Npower Championship club Peterborough United.

The 16-year-old right winger agreed terms with Posh after a four-day trial with Darren Ferguson's side.

Conlon, from Porthill, was signed by Newcastle in the summer having been released by Stoke City.

Newcastle's under-17s manager Gavin Appleby said: "We are really pleased for Tom. He'd been at Stoke for nine years, so it's great he's been given a chance to get back in the professional game.

"He's a lovely lad. He didn't come to Newcastle with an ego, he settled in straight away.

"He's good with both feet, but is particularly strong on his left. He's been playing on the right wing for us where he has cut inside to score goals."

Conlon was spotted by Peterborough while scoring two goals for Newcastle in their FA Youth Cup win at Stratford Town a month ago.

Meanwhile, Newcastle's first-team boss John Diskin has released striker Marco Adaggio and midfielder Jamie Haynes by mutual consent.

Diskin explained: "They have left on good terms. They were travelling in from Shrewsbury, but we weren't in a position to offer them guaranteed first-team football.

"Their departure should free up a little in the budget. I have one or two options to bring someone in, but it also leaves space on the bench for players from our under-18s."

Wide right player Josh Gordon and midfielder or forward Jordan Cole are most likely to be promoted having spent most of pre season training with the first team.

Meanwhile, Diskin has no new injury worries for Saturday's home Evo-Stik Division One South game with Lincoln United.

His squad includes new signings Matt Lowe from Nantwich, and Chris Morris from Romulus, who were recruited before last Saturday's 2-1 FA Trophy defeat at Hucknall.

Lowe played at right-back for Nantwich, but has settled in midfield for Newcastle.

Morris can play up front or out wide, but is being used in a central position.

Eighth-placed Newcastle are looking to end a run of three games without a win, but will start favourites against bottom club Lincoln.

KIDSGROVE boss Shaun Hollinshead has welcome selection options as he prepares his side for tomorrow's league game at Rainworth Miners Welfare.

James Curley and Shane Reaney are available after missing last week's 3-2 FA Trophy defeat to Stamford because they were on holiday.

Keeper Dave Dyson is back from honeymoon while Andy Taylor is also available having missed the Stamford game because he was in Chicago watching the Ryder Cup.

Paul Taylor should be back from injury, but midfielder Kevin Street is set to miss the game with a calf strain.
