Football: Langston is happy with first victory
"IT SHOULD have been a lot more", insisted Dave Langston after celebrating his first win as manager of Rocester on Saturday.
Danny Lowndes bagged a brace as the Romans hit back from one goal down to beat Bridgnorth Town 2-1 at Hillsfield.
"We had three or four one-on-one situations which we should have finished," said Langston. "All the new lads played really well ... Joe Rogers at right-back was excellent, Danny Lowndes pushed on and got a brace and Morgan Hurley did well – he's going to be a big player for us in this league."
Saturday's victory lifted Rocester three points above Shifnal Town who occupy the final Midland Alliance relegation place. And Langston is now aiming to reel in a cluster of teams sitting just above the Romans.
The manager said: "We wanted that first win as soon as possible – just one win will now will get us up in that group of four or five. It gives us that bit of a push. There was a great buzz around the club afterwards. The support is getting stronger. Despite Stoke City being at home and a big rugby game on we were still well supported. It's all positive."
Langston revealed that further signings could be on their way to Hillsfield.
