However, it was league leaders Knutton who opened the scoring on 30 minutes, when Dean headed home from a corner.
Cheadle rallied and Chris Heathcote was unfortunate to see an effort go wide before the break.
Straight from the kick-off in the second half, United were given a mountain to climb.
Some woeful defending gift-wrapped Dean's second.
And to make matters worse, United were guilty of some similarly slack defending moments later to hand the Matthey striker his hat-trick.
United introduced substitutes Marc Hubbard and Lee Bloor in an attempt to salvage something from the game.
However, Will Sergeant killed it off when he netted Matthey's fourth.
And things got worse for Cheadle when the prolific Dean made the final score 5-0.
