Football: Cup victims turn to Vase for a change in fortunes
TWO clubs who went out of the FA Cup this week now turn their attention to the FA Vase.
In the first round of the qualifying stage, Congleton Town travel to Rotherham to meet Parkgate, while Biddulph Vics take on Stafford Town at Norton on Sunday.

WIDE MAN: Lee Talbot, pictured in action for previous team Norton United, is wanted by Congleton Town manager Anthony Buckle to give his team some width.
Vics have been forced to move their base away from Tunstall Road as Knypersley are playing Stone in the final of cricket's Staffordshire Cup.
Congleton will again be without striker Matt Haddrell, who is serving a week's ban after collecting five bookings for Sunday side Blue Mugge last season.
Joint boss Anthony Buckle said: "We only found out on Monday, the night before the replay with Curzon Ashton. Matt didn't know either."
Congleton pushed Scott Dundas up front alongside Shane Reaney, but lost in the 119th minute.
Buckle said: "I could not have asked any more of the players in terms of hard work, but Curzon were the better team.
"Now we can expect another tough tie at Parkgate.
"I don't know much about them, but they are fourth in the premier division of the Northern Counties East League and unbeaten."
Buckle is planning a swoop on Stone Dominoes' left winger Lee Talbot to give his front players some service. He said: "We need width. When you have a player like Matt Haddrell up front you need crosses coming in and Lee has a quality left foot.
"Matt has not scored one of his eight goals with a header."
BIDDULPH VICS are frantically searching for a goalkeeper to face West Midlands Regional League Premier Division side Stafford Town.
The good news is that first choice Gary Goodwin (ankle ligaments) should be back sooner than expected, but joint manager Karl Wilcox still needs to recruit a short-term replacement.
Outfield player Steve Brannan wore the gloves for the two FA Cup ties against Kidsgrove, and Wilcox did not hold him to blame for Tuesdays 4-0 replay defeat.
"Steve was fantastic in both games," he said. "All the players gave it everything. Their attitude was great. We were the better team for 25 minutes, but I think the injury to Geoff McGaw affected us more than them. We had to stop playing for over 20 minutes."
Biddulph head for the Vase hoping to emulate last season's club record-breaking run which took in five games, but striker James Marrow is unavailable.
STONE Dominoes travel to Castle Vale having done some homework on their Midland Combination opponents.
Manager Shaun Hollinshead watched their 2-2 home draw with leaders Coventry Copeswood on Monday and was impressed.
He said: "They had all the game, but found themselves 2-0 down. But they kept going to earn a point in the last minute.
"They are a strong, well organised side with two good wing backs, so it will be every bit as tough as a league game."
Dominoes will be aiming for a repeat, having won at Castle Vale in the FA Vase two years ago.
However, they will be without Rob Drummond (hamstring), Jordan White and Adam Soane. Chris Rowley returns.
LEEK CSOB expect to include the influential James Heath in their tie at Midland Combination Pershore Town.
Heath has recovered from a knee injury suffered in pre-season and player manager Brett Barlow describes his return as "a massive bonus".
He said: "James can play in various positions, both across the back and in midfield, and we will welcome his experience."
Old Boys also hope Will Bown will have shrugged off a knee injury, but Alex Baird and Adam Finney are banned.
