Name is not Fit for purpose
THE title given to a programme of changes to health care is leaving the public cold.
Called Fit For The Future, the project includes the creation of a £400 million superhospital at Hartshill and prepares for more than 100,000 people a year to have their outpatient appointments in community health centres and GP surgeries instead of hospital.
But a survey revealed three-quarters of the scores of people questioned had no concept of what "Fit For The Future" was – and most of the remaining 25 per cent who recognised the name thought it was part of a Government keep-fit drive.
The poll result comes despite the name being launched nearly five years ago and the setting up of a Fit For The Future website and communication team.
Now the programme's communication strategy is to be reviewed.
A spokesman said: "The communications group will be reviewing its media plan approach as part of a broader communications review."
