Final farewell to Tin Can Man
FRIENDS and relatives of Tin Can Man John Leese will today say their final farewells at the funeral of the charity champion.
The 86-year-old, from Werrington, died in hospital earlier this month after contracting pneumonia.
He had become a well-known face in North Staffordshire after spending 19 years collecting money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Blurton, which cared for his wife Olwen in her final days.
Mr Leese raised £361,000 altogether and only retired three years ago due to his failing health.

His funeral will take place at St Mark's Church, Shelton, from 11.15am.
It will be followed by cremation at Carmountside.
Mr Leese's family have asked those attending to make donations in his memory to the hospice.
