Film company's heritage project
A NEWCASTLE film production company is making a documentary on the redevelopment of a former colliery into a heritage country park.
Inspired Film and Video will document the work at Chatterley Whitfield, near Fegg Hayes, which is undergoing an £8 million transformation funded by the National Coalfield Programme.
The company has been hired by developer Birse Civil Engineering, which plans to create bridges and waterway diversions and carry out landscaping.
There will also be path and bridge access for horses, while spoil heaps will be landscaped.
Work on the site is due to begin this summer and continue for 18 months.
Inspired, based at Lymedale Business Centre, has produced several feature-length documentaries since its formation two years ago, including A Flavour of Staffordshire, which focused on the region's food and drink, and May un Mar Language, exploring the Potteries dialect.
Director Chris Gibbs said the Chatterley Whitfield film will highlight the changing landscape and its effect on the surrounding communities.
He added: "Working on such a major scheme is a real honour. It is a project we are very excited to be involved with."
