Fifth hopeful in leader bid
POTTERIES Alliance leader Councillor Peter Kent-Baguley is the fifth candidate to bid for the leadership of Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
The Chell and Packmoor member, who has served on the council since 2002, has submitted his nomination papers.
If elected, he says he would work with other groups to deliver progress on key issues such as the city's regeneration.
His nomination pits him against BNP leader Alby Walker, newly-elected Labour group leader Mike Barnes, newly-elected City Independent Group leader Brian Ward and Conservative and Independent Alliance leader Ross Irving.
The council will elect its new leader on June 5.
The victor will then appoint a cabinet of up to eight members before taking office on June 8, when elected mayor Mark Meredith steps down.
