Festive taste test: Mince pies
ALDI
These had a reassuringly home-made look about them and, despite the yawning void between lid and content, the mincemeat itself was reasonably rich and fruity. 7/10
Tesco
These also looked well, but the pastry was lighter and sweeter, and the baker had not stinted on filling. The mincemeat had the evocatively spicy taste of Christmas past. 8/10
Morrisons
These looked a bit cheap and manufactured, with too little mincemeat and too much rather dry and unappetising pastry. Overall, the least enjoyable of the three. 5/10
