Feet first for hot coal walk
VOLUNTEERS walked across red-hot coals and broken glass to raise almost £2,500 for charity.
The group of 14 fund-raisers took on the challenge for Cancer Research UK, at Northwood Nurseries in Clayton.
They were first given a talk by lifestyle coach Tony Burgess.
And volunteers were then set the challenge of walking over a bonfire of hot coals and a path made up of broken bottles.
Organiser Ada Haywood, from Clayton, was the first to carry out the feat.
The 58-year-old said: "I wanted to do it first, then if I burned my feet I could say the others didn't have to do it.
"It was the most amazing experience, the best thing I have done in my life. There were no cuts or burns. It felt like I was walking over carpet."
In total, the group raised £2,426 in sponsorship cash.
