February half-term fun at city’s museums

Council run museums are set to open their doors with a host of activities this month giving parents a number of ways to keep their children entertained this half term.

Three of the city's museums will being staging events over the week starting Monday February 13, 2012, ranging from meeting Roman soldiers to making Valentines gifts for a loved one.

The full list of activities are:-

  • The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.

Visitors can make a moving Roman soldier to take home or take part in a digital workshop where they can tell a story about life in Staffordshire 1000 years ago. On Saturday February 18, 2012 they can also meet Roman soldiers from The Ermine Street Guard as they demonstrate the life of a soldier in ancient Britain.

 

The museum will also be holding a special printmaking activity for all the family taking inspiration from the Artists and Printmakers exhibition. Lean how these artists influenced popular culture through posters and create your own print to take away.

 

  • Gladstone Pottery Museum.

Love is in the air at Gladstone Pottery Museum as all week there will be hearts and flowers pottery to decorate, take home as a souvenir or give to a loved one. On Valentine's Day itself guests will be able to make a paper spring flower posy for their own Valentine's sweetheart.

 

  • Ford Green Hall.

The theme of romance continues at Ford Green Hall as visitors can make a marvellous mask to disguise their identity for a masked ball at the court of Henry VIII.
