Fast food bid to open later
PLANS for a takeaway to extend its opening hours have received a mixed response from residents.
Flames Kebab and Pizza House, in Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove, wants to stay open until 1am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and until midnight for the rest of the week.
Anthony Yersley, aged 22, of Liverpool Road, said: "They should go for it, they're a good bunch of lads and I've never had any noise from them.
"I've only just had double glazing put in so I could hear everything and the only noise was people coming off the canal and back from the pub."
Derek Caton, aged 71, also of Liverpool Road, said: "This is terrible and just means more noise and mess.
"They'll eat part of the food and then leave the rest on my steps.
"They walk from Flames to the benches across from my house and you can hear them cursing, swearing and carrying on after 12pm and using the alleyway as a toilet."
Residents have until January 22 to object to the application and should contact Newcastle Borough Council if they wish to view the plans.
