Families voice mast objection
PROTESTERS are campaigning against plans to put a mobile phone mast close to a primary school.
The proposals for the 45ft mast near to Pear Tree Primary School, in Stapeley, near Nantwich, are to be considered by Cheshire East Council on Wednesday.
A report prepared for the meeting recommends the mast in Peter De Stapleigh Way on behalf Vodafone and 02 be approved.
The plans have been opposed by nine residents who have warned the mast could affect health and should not be placed 150ft from the school.
The report for the council's strategic planning board states that it is the best of all considered sites.
The report reads: "Alternative sites have been considered as part of the selection process and have been rejected for a number of reasons. It is considered that in this instance the development is compliant with local and national policy."
Families living on nearby Talbot Way, Garnett Close, Haighton Court, Chater Drive, Mainwaring Close and Hawksey Drive have complained.
